5-year Plan

As an Artist, I plan on graduating from St. Edward’s University in 2011 and post-graduation I plan on concentrating on setting up a mixed-media studio, concentrating on ceramics. I currently own a slab-roller, kiln, wheels, working spaces, and shelves. I am hoping to be able to allow some of my peers to work in my space as well—forming, hopefully, what could turn out to be a group of Artists that can bounce ideas and work off one another. I will be working on my throwing skills more post graduation, with hopes of having clients that will show/sell functional pottery for me. I currently have a coffee shop owner who is willing to sell coffee mugs for me- fingers crossed that this just leads me to practice till I am near perfect and that door will open more for me in the future (and for my peers).
On a personal level, my life plan for the next 5 years may seem a little different. I personally feel that I may try to find a job for a few years after college that will have nothing to do with art. This is for different reasons to include financial needs, making connections and broadening my horizons.
2012- First and foremost, being a good mommy to my little man. Working on my resume and job searching prior to graduation. Graduate from St. Edwards in May 2012. I will probably be hitched by June 2012. I am hoping to have a job in the early summer of 2012.
2013- Continue to work on my art. All while working, raising my little man, and being a good wife to a happy husband. Probably start planning on a baby in the future (if I am not knocked up already).
2014- Jack starts school this year. I’m hoping to work for as much of 2014 as possible, saving money for a bambino and a house. My future husband makes good money, anything I make can go straight to savings. Work on art—take a step back and see if I can view any transitions in my work.
2015- I should be not working anymore and at home with a baby and probably trying to get pregnant again. I’m planning on having any spare time that I do have be consumed with theraputic art time.
2016- Same as 2015, just with a more mobil monster and a newborn at home. Theraputic art will be a must. And- of course, being a good wife during this.
